Leisure Time
Leisure Time
On weekends, when I am not working, I go out to eat with my friends. We have our favorite places that we generally pick but we do like to explore new places as well. We go into town to find quirky coffee shops and interesting restaurants. There are take out places and sit down restaurants on nearly every block. The supply of food places are in abundance. The 1920s were similar as they were in a state of prosperity. They had restaurants that were incredibly popular with the American public as going out to eat with friends and/or family was considered to be leisure time. The average person had the money and means to go to a restaurant and they enjoyed doing so. This was in contrast with the 1930s where people were starving. As a result of the Great Depression, the average American did not have money to spend on needs, let alone wants. They were not afforded the opportunity to eat out and rather had to make a plan with what they had. Often, what people had was not a lot and as a result many people were constantly hungry. These people worked longer hours in order to try and earn more money. This allowed no leisure time and the United States remained in a depressive state.
