Top 3 Life Lessons from History

History, a class that has become compulsory in middle schools, high schools as well as colleges, is more than just a period of learning in order to achieve a good grade on a test. History teaches individuals life lessons. If I had to list all of the life lessons that history has taught me, it would take up a lot more space than an individual blog page. A shortened, summarized version of what I have learned is:

      1. History repeats itself.

Both good and bad events seem to occur over and over again in history. The same mistakes are made and similar successes are achieved.

      2. Knowledge is power.
These three simple words are incredibly important. Knowledge that one learns in a classroom can be applied to one's every day life and in situations similar to the historical one. The more history one knows, the more intelligent they are. This is because this person can understand the past and apply this to the present and future, therefore making them very powerful.

      3. How to analyse a source.
One will be faced with many sources in his/her life and s/he needs to have the skills to know how to access the reliability of the source. In history class, one learns how to tell bias and take into account the speaker and audience.

So many skills are learned from the History classroom that is unteachable in any other class. Everything I have learned, will be carried with me throughout my personal and professional career to better my overall life.
